About the role#
We are looking for students to join us for a Software Engineering internship during the summer of 2027. You will work alongside a mentor and other team members to apply your skills to projects that have a meaningful impact on our work. This role is for individuals who enjoy challenging themselves and want to contribute directly to our mission of creating AI systems to understand the universe.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with your mentor and other employees on engineering projects.
- Apply your academic knowledge to real-world tasks with significant impact.
- Participate in a team environment where everyone is expected to be hands-on.
- Communicate technical knowledge concisely and accurately with your teammates.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor's or graduate program.
- At least 3 months of software programming or development experience.
- Coding experience in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- A GPA of 3.5 or above.
- At least 6 months of experience developing and deploying software for real-world applications.
- Fundamental knowledge of computer architecture and networks.
- Experience with software documentation, system diagrams, and requirements enumeration.
- Skills in debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.
- Ability to take initiative and work effectively in an environment with changing needs.
Location & details#
- Location: Palo Alto, California.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: This is an on-site, full-time position for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks starting in May or June 2027.
- Compensation: Pay ranges from $30 to $40 per hour based on academic level. You may also be eligible for a relocation stipend, medical coverage, and a 401(k) plan.
