Image Processing Co-Op Spring 2027

About the role#

Specter Aerospace is seeking an Image Processing Co-op for a 4-6 month cycle to support an infrared and optical imaging demonstrator project. You will work alongside engineers and scientists to contribute to experimental and flight vehicle programs, gaining hands-on experience with sensor data analysis, algorithm development, and software testing.

What you'll do#

• Develop Python code to process, analyze, and visualize infrared and visible-spectrum sensor data.
• Create image-processing and computer-vision algorithms for enhancement, feature extraction, segmentation, detection, and tracking.
• Process and organize large image and sensor datasets.
• Support the calibration, testing, and evaluation of imaging systems.
• Develop testing protocols to conduct software shakedowns, debug analysis tools, and validate experimental results.
• Collaborate with technical teams to define analysis requirements and document methods.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or mathematics.
• Experience programming in Python, MATLAB, C++, or a comparable language.
• Familiarity with image processing, computer vision, numerical analysis, or data analysis.
• Ability to work independently in an environment with changing requirements.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
