About the role#
Specter Aerospace is seeking an Image Processing Co-op for a 4 to 6 month cycle to support an infrared and optical imaging demonstrator project. You will work alongside engineers and scientists to process sensor data, develop analysis tools, and evaluate the performance of imaging systems. This role involves contributing to experimental and flight vehicle programs, with opportunities to take ownership of projects from implementation through testing and documentation.
What you'll do#
- Develop Python code to process, analyze, and visualize infrared and visible-spectrum sensor data.
- Create image-processing and computer-vision algorithms for enhancement, feature extraction, segmentation, detection, and tracking.
- Process and organize large image and sensor datasets.
- Support the calibration, testing, and evaluation of imaging systems.
- Define analysis requirements and interpret experimental results with the engineering team.
- Develop testing protocols to conduct software shakedowns, debug analysis tools, and validate results.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or applied mathematics.
- Experience programming in Python, MATLAB, C++, or a comparable language.
- Familiarity with image processing, computer vision, numerical analysis, or data analysis.
- Ability to work independently in an environment with changing requirements.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
