About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will work with the Utility Shared Services team, supporting departments including Emergency Preparedness, Compliance, DOT Compliance, Standards, Quality Assurance, Records, and GIS/CAD. This role offers a hybrid work environment and provides exposure to utility operations through an 11-week program featuring mentorship, educational seminars, and networking opportunities.
What you'll do#
- Support the Standards Department by reviewing current standards, recommending changes, and performing basic drafting of standard details.
- Assist the Compliance and DOT departments in preparing reports, analyzing data, and verifying document accuracy.
- Help the Emergency Preparedness team plan and review drills while checking documents for conformance with state and federal codes.
- Conduct field audits and inspections to ensure tasks follow organizational manuals and regulatory requirements.
- Map existing utilities, generate GIS products, and assist in the development and testing of GIS applications.
- Participate in functional meetings, interpret data, and present your findings to the team.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree with a graduation date of Fall 2026 or later.
- You hold a High School Diploma or GED.
- You have strong communication skills and are comfortable presenting information.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- You have the ability to organize work in a multi-tasked environment and manage your time effectively.
- Preferred experience includes reading engineering documents, basic drafting (AutoCAD or SOLIDWORKS), technical writing, and performing introductory engineering calculations.

- Location: Atlantic City, New Jersey.
- Work Modality: Hybrid.
- Compensation: $18 to $28 per hour.
