About the role#
As a System Integrity Engineering Intern, you will work with department managers and engineers on projects that support our natural gas utility operations. This is a full-time, 11-week summer internship program. You will gain hands-on experience by assisting with engineering tasks, shadowing actual operations, and contributing to the day-to-day work of the engineering department. You will also collaborate on a cross-functional project to present to the SJI Executive Leadership Team.
What you'll do#
- Support the Distribution and Transmission Integrity Management Programs through record investigation and data analysis.
- Perform calculations, research, and analysis for upcoming department projects.
- Draft, finalize, and implement new technical reports and process improvement recommendations.
- Create basic engineering schematics using design software.
- Provide general support to department managers and engineers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior, Senior, or Masters student in Mechanical or Civil Engineering at an ABET accredited college or university.
- Ability to evaluate complex information and provide assistance to team members.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a professional demeanor.
- A strong sense of commitment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD is preferred.
- Experience with Python or other programming languages is preferred.
- Note: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.
