About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to work within the ARC news concept at KOMO in Seattle. You will contribute to a newsroom focused on authentic, relevant, and community-driven storytelling across broadcast and digital platforms. This is a paid, 10-week, on-site program designed to provide hands-on experience in modern journalism.
What you'll do#
- Assist in researching, writing, and producing news stories for broadcast and digital platforms.
- Work alongside reporters, anchors, producers, and photographers in the newsroom and in the field.
- Pitch fresh story ideas and help shape coverage that matters to the community.
- Learn to shoot video and understand the elements that make a story stand out.
- Gain exposure to control room operations and the production of live broadcasts.
What you'll need#
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, or a recent graduate (must be at least a sophomore at an accredited college or university).
- Pursuing a degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, English, or Political Science.
- Ability to work on-site approximately 15 hours per week.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
Location & details#
- Location: Seattle, Washington.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Commitment: 15 hours per week for 10 weeks.
- Compensation: $21.30 per hour.
