About the role#
The Quality Intern role is a 10-12 week assignment based at our Portland, Oregon facility. You will work directly with the Quality Manager to support daily operations and specific projects. This role is designed to help you gain hands-on experience with our quality systems, manufacturing standards, and testing procedures.
What you'll do#
- Assist the Quality Manager with daily tasks and special projects.
- Learn our quality systems, tools, metrics, and manufacturing standards.
- Identify necessary process and formula changes for existing products.
- Perform routine testing on paint and raw materials.
- Complete training programs, including Microbial Control, Institutional Test Methods, and Minitab & Basic Statistics.
- Gain exposure to the New Product Launch process, including test batches, calibration methods, and audits.
- Participate in early career development programming and site engagement events.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a college or university program.
- Pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Rising or current junior or senior status at the start of the internship.
- At least one year of experience using Microsoft Office tools like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Previous experience working in a team environment, whether through school, work, or extracurricular activities.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Previous Sherwin-Williams internship or co-op experience is a plus.
