About the role#
The Operations Intern role is a summer-long assignment based at our Birmingham, Alabama facility. You will work closely with the Operations Manager to support daily tasks and specific site projects. This position provides exposure to manufacturing and distribution operations while allowing you to assist team members in achieving departmental goals.
What you'll do#
- Assist with planning daily work schedules.
- Support site safety programs and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work with the filling department as needed.
- Review the quality of production orders.
- Develop an understanding of inventory, routing, and shipping procedures.
- Support employee engagement initiatives and site events to promote a positive culture.
- Take on special projects as identified by the Operations Manager.
- Participate in early career development programming, including workshops, info sessions, and networking opportunities.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a college or university program.
- Status as a rising or current junior or senior.
- Pursuit of a degree in Operations, such as Industrial Management, Supply Chain, Engineering Technology, or Logistics.
- At least one year of work experience using Microsoft Office products like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Previous experience in a team-oriented setting, such as extracurricular activities, military service, or past work.
- Must be at least eighteen years of age.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without needing visa sponsorship.
- Previous Sherwin-Williams internship or co-op experience is a plus.
