About the role#
This internship provides undergraduate students with hands-on experience in public safety and security operations within a behavioral healthcare system. Interns support departmental leadership with administrative, analytical, and operational initiatives. You will gain exposure to the daily functions of the Department of Public Safety, including security data collection, risk assessment, and program evaluation. This role offers insight into how security services support inpatient and outpatient populations, employees, and visitors.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the collection, analysis, and reporting of security-related data to identify trends and support decision-making.
- Support the completion, documentation, and tracking of security risk assessments and vulnerability analyses.
- Assist with administrative and operational processes related to security technology platforms, such as electronic access control and video surveillance.
- Maintain and update records, dashboards, metrics, and reports to monitor departmental performance.
- Participate in departmental meetings, compliance reviews, audits, and process improvement activities.
- Conduct research to support policy development and security-related initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate program in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Public Safety, Emergency Management, Criminology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in corporate security, public safety, risk management, healthcare security, or law enforcement.
- Strong organizational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to adhere to professional standards, confidentiality requirements, and organizational policies.
