About the role#
Alleghany Highlands Community Services is hiring a Human Resources Intern to gain practical experience in a mission-driven environment. You will work directly with our HR team to support the employee lifecycle while gaining exposure to behavioral health, developmental disability, and substance use services operations. This is a paid position that offers hands-on experience and flexible scheduling to meet academic requirements.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate interviews and communicate with candidates.
- Support the onboarding and orientation process for new hires.
- Maintain personnel files, employee records, and HR documentation.
- Assist with professional development and training activities.
- Prepare HR forms, resources, and internal communications.
- Help with employee engagement and recognition programs.
- Participate in HR compliance tasks and process-improvement projects.
- Handle sensitive organizational information with discretion and confidentiality.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university program in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, Psychology, or a related field.
- Interest in gaining practical HR experience.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new systems.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Professional communication skills.
- A proactive approach to learning and asking questions.
- Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality and professionalism.
