About the role#
Alleghany Highlands Community Services offers a paid internship for students currently enrolled in a Master's degree program. This role provides hands-on experience in mental health, substance use disorders, and developmental disabilities. You will work directly with clients and learn from experienced professionals in a supportive environment.
What you'll do#
- Engage directly with clients to support their recovery and well-being.
- Learn to identify symptoms of mental illness and substance use disorders.
- Explore different treatment modalities.
- Build skills in assessment and diagnostics.
- Create person-centered service plans based on individual needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master's degree program for Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or Human Services.
- Knowledge of mental illness, substance use disorders, and intellectual or developmental disabilities.
- Ability to maintain the security and confidentiality of Protected Health Information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with standard office equipment like scanners, copiers, and fax machines.
- Strong communication skills and a person-centric approach to care.
- Successful completion of a background check and drug screen is required for all candidates.
