About the role#
This is a paid internship and co-op position for the Winter 2027 term, running from January to April. You will be based on-site in Vancouver, British Columbia, working 37.5 hours per week. You will support the Scotiatrust Taxation Services unit by managing tax documentation and assisting with client tax assessments.
What you'll do#
- Prepare income tax returns.
- Gather and analyze supporting documentation, including income statements, tax slips, transaction records, and capital gains or losses statements.
- Discuss tax rules and elections with Tax Officers and Managers.
- Perform research and detailed analysis to suggest courses of action for less complex client situations.
- Build and deepen client relationships through a customer-focused approach.
- Manage day-to-day business controls to ensure compliance with operational, regulatory, AML/ATF, and conduct risk frameworks.
- Align all decisions with Bank risk appetite and internal policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary program, specifically in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with tax preparation software, Salesforce, and the Broadridge Trust System.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction, manage multiple tasks, and take initiative.
- Strong writing skills and a commitment to customer service.
