About the role#
This is a paid internship-co-op position for the Winter 2027 term. You will join the Scotiatrust Taxation Services unit in Ottawa to support team business strategies and objectives. This role requires full-time availability from January to April 2027.
What you'll do#
- Prepare income tax returns by gathering and analyzing documentation like income statements, tax slips, and capital gains statements.
- Discuss tax rules and elections with Tax Officers and Managers.
- Assess client tax situations, perform research, and suggest actions for less complex cases.
- Promote a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships.
- Ensure daily activities comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and the Bank’s risk appetite.
- Manage operational, regulatory, and AML/ATF risks in line with the Bank’s frameworks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary program, specifically in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience or knowledge of tax preparation software, Salesforce, and the Broadridge Trust System.
- Strong organizational and writing skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work with minimal direction, manage multiple tasks, and take initiative.
- A focus on providing quality customer service.
