About the role#
This internship provides oversight and control across the Global Banking and Markets business line at Scotiabank. You will join the Internal Controls Team, focusing on either Global Governance or First Line Testing. You will gain an understanding of business process documentation, regulatory requirements for Capital Markets, and control execution.
What you'll do#
- Develop global solutions, standards, and operating principles while liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- Build enhancements for voice and e-communications controls and governance.
- Establish best practices for supervision, including the coordination of global reviews for lexicons, scenarios, and surveillance.
- Perform analysis to identify patterns, themes, or trends in business line controls.
- Investigate underlying causes of control breakdowns.
- Review policies and procedures, support walkthroughs, document processes, and report findings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary program, specifically in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or Accounting.
- Strong Attitude, Ownership, and Opportunity (AOO) mindset.
- A desire to learn and a self-starter approach.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Involvement in extracurricular activities such as clubs, conferences, or competitions.
