About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to work within the Corporate Security division at Scotiabank. You will support teams focused on digital forensics, security operations, intelligence, and judicial document services. The role involves protecting bank assets, staff, and customers through investigative and consultative work. You will gain exposure to security systems and procedures while working alongside experienced professionals.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the management of security and safety initiatives for the bank.
- Provide investigative and program management services to mitigate internal and external threats.
- Support 24/7 critical incident management and respond to physical security incidents.
- Detect and deter risks associated with trusted insiders to protect customer and bank privacy.
- Develop insights on the effectiveness of security controls and processes.
- Use an intelligence-led approach to assist with loss prevention.
- Manage third-party requests for information while ensuring documentation follows privacy and confidentiality guidelines.
- Handle compliance requirements for court orders, production orders, and government agency requests.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary program, specifically in Criminal Justice, Computer Science, or Business Administration.
- Strong analytical, communication, and time management skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word.
- A strong background in programming, with Python skills preferred.
- A keen interest in criminology and related fields is considered an asset.
- A demonstrated attitude of ownership and a desire for opportunity.
