About the role#
The ASPIRE Commercial Banking program provides hands-on experience within Scotiabank's commercial divisions. You will gain exposure to credit, financial analysis, and business operations by working with teams such as Mid-Market, National Accounts, Real Estate Banking, or Roynat Capital. This role is designed for students looking to build foundational skills in assessing credit and supporting financing decisions.
What you'll do#
- Support credit and relationship teams through research, financial analysis, and transaction-related tasks.
- Analyze company performance, financial statements, industry trends, and market conditions.
- Contribute to credit submissions, underwriting requirements, investment summaries, and recommendations.
- Learn how financing structures, client objectives, and risk considerations influence lending decisions.
- Work with colleagues across Commercial Banking to deliver timely support.
- Champion a client-focused culture while considering the Bank's risk appetite.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Real Estate, or Urban Land Economics.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good presentation skills and a consistent display of professionalism.
- A natural curiosity and eagerness to learn about Commercial Banking, credit, and financial analysis.
