About the role#
This internship provides exposure to an IT team supporting a manufacturing environment. You will work on data analysis, reporting, pipelines, and applied machine learning. The position is based at our corporate facility in Spring Grove, Illinois, for the Summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
You will work on self-directed projects with mentor check-ins, shadow team members, and pair with project owners. Your responsibilities include:
- Defining prompts, skills, agents, custom GPTs, and other LLM harness components.
- Partnering with the team to solve business problems using the CRISP-DM analytics framework.
- Migrating small components of ETL pipelines to cloud platforms as part of data ecosystem modernization.
- Working with data models in analytical tools that support dashboards and BI systems.
- Designing and developing reports and visualizations to meet specific business requirements.
- Gathering requirements, refining scope, and breaking work into manageable tasks alongside mentors.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or a related field.
- Rising Junior status or higher at the start of the internship.
- Experience programming in a language with analytical or data-processing toolkits.
- Ability to build visualizations that communicate findings.
- Experience with CRUD operations in relational databases.
- Familiarity with data transformation pipelines, training supervised machine learning models, and using visualization or BI tools.
- Experience using or fine-tuning open-source models and working with generative AI tools.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Must be able to pass a 90 day head hair drug test.
