About the role#
SCO Family of Services is seeking an MSW intern to join our Qualified Residential Treatment Programs in Jamaica, New York. This is an unpaid, part-time internship opportunity available on a rolling basis for students seeking field placement experience.
What you'll do#
You will observe and participate in daily program functions to gain direct experience in social work services. You will support young adults as they work toward their permanency goals, including:
- Assisting with parent reunifications.
- Supporting housing, employment, and educational objectives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a CSWE-accredited Master of Social Work program with school approval for field placement.
- Academic and professional standing that meets both school and agency requirements.
- A strong interest in child welfare, trauma-informed care, behavioral health, developmental disabilities, family systems, and permanency practice.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to maintain timely documentation.
- The ability to work respectfully with youth, families, and colleagues across diverse identities, cultures, abilities, beliefs, and lived experiences.
- A willingness to receive feedback, engage in reflective supervision, and practice within the limits of your training and assigned responsibilities.
- The ability to comply with all required clearances, health requirements, trainings, and onboarding procedures before starting.
