About the role#
This internship position is based in our Grid business unit for the summer of 2027. You will work on a project team alongside senior engineers to assist in the execution of project work. These projects involve the design of new systems, modifications, and upgrades to transmission, substation, distribution, renewable, and battery energy storage systems. This role provides an opportunity to apply your academic engineering background to real-world tasks.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
- Work on project reporting, including tracking and evaluating project activities, progress, and data.
- Participate in power designs and prepare specifications for the procurement of electrical power equipment and installation services.
- Use modern tools, including automation and agentic AI, to solve engineering problems, improve workflows, and deliver cost-effective designs.
- Build or use automation to create calculations, summarize technical documents, or draft design documentation.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles used in the production of technical plans, blueprints, and models.
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as a proactive self-starter.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within your campus or community.
- Familiarity with coding, 3D modeling, or agentic AI is preferred. Experience with Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel is also valued.
