About the role#
This internship is part of the Nuclear Power Group for the summer of 2027. You will join a project team to assist with the execution of engineering work related to nuclear power plant systems. The role involves a mix of electrical and mechanical engineering principles applied through control theory to support plant modifications and upgrades.
What you'll do#
- Assist senior engineers with project execution.
- Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
- Track and evaluate project activities and progress.
- Apply your academic background in electronic process sensors and digital controllers to improve plant functionality.
- Use modern tools, including automation and AI, to solve engineering problems and improve workflows.
- Develop scripts or programs in tools like Python, MATLAB, or Excel to automate calculations and design checks.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Coursework in analog and digital control systems, systems engineering, mechatronics, or robotics.
- Enrollment in an ABET-accredited program is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Ability to work on-site in Charlotte, North Carolina.
