About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will join a project team to support senior engineers. You will work on the design of new systems or upgrades for power plants and industrial facilities. This role is based in Chicago for the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist the engineering team with project execution.
- Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Track and evaluate project activities, progress, and data.
- Solve engineering problems using data and modern tools, including automation and AI, to improve workflows and design efficiency.
- Use programming or scripting skills like Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel to automate calculations and reporting.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Mechanical Engineering.
- A strong academic background with coursework in mechanical systems analysis.
- Proficiency with PCs and clear verbal and written communication skills.
- An understanding of how to apply mechanical engineering principles in practice.
- A willingness to use automation or AI tools to support engineering tasks.

- Location: Chicago, Illinois.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, on-site.
- Compensation: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour.
