About the role#
This internship position is based in the Mechanical Section of the Consulting Business Group for the summer of 2027. You will work on power generation projects, feasibility studies, and power system planning. We look for individuals who can solve engineering problems using data and modern tools, including automation and AI, to improve workflows and design efficiency.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the Consulting Business Group to apply your engineering background to real projects.
- Assist in preparing consulting proposals, marketing materials, technical presentations, and white papers.
- Support project teams with due diligence and feasibility studies for power generation.
- Track project activities, evaluate progress, and manage associated data.
- Prepare technical reports, conceptual designs, and specifications for clients.
- Use tools like Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel to automate calculations, design checks, and reporting.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Master degree program in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with at least six semesters or equivalent quarters completed.
- A minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience or coursework related to power systems, renewable energy, or the power industry.
- Clear interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to use automation and AI tools to solve engineering problems with strong judgment and result verification.
Location & details#
- This role is located in Chicago, Illinois.
- The position is on-site and full-time for the summer 2027 term.
- Compensation is between $18.00 and $30.00 per hour.
