About the role#
As a Substation Engineer Intern, you will join a project team within our Grid business unit during the summer of 2027. You will assist senior engineers with the design, modification, and upgrade of transmission, substation, distribution, renewable, and battery energy storage systems. This role focuses on applying your academic engineering background to real-world infrastructure projects.
What you'll do#
- Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
- Track and evaluate project activities, progress, and data.
- Contribute to power designs and the preparation of specifications for electrical power equipment.
- Solve engineering problems using automation and AI tools to improve workflows and design quality.
- Use programming or scripting skills to automate calculations, design checks, or data transformation.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor or Master degree program in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering.
- Knowledge of design techniques and principles used to produce technical plans and 3D visualizations.
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Ability to identify issues, prioritize tasks, and create solutions independently.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in coding, 3D modeling, or agentic AI is a plus.
