About the role#
This is an 8-month Mechanical Design Co-op position starting in September 2026. You will work on electro-optical mechanical design, documentation, and database management for a variety of networking platforms. This role provides hands-on experience with engineering design processes and prototype evaluation.
What you'll do#
- Develop mechanical design solutions for optical plugs and circuit packs.
- Work within physically dense and thermally constrained environments.
- Create drawings and designs for mechanical parts and assemblies.
- Build prototype assemblies and evaluate first samples.
- Manage and maintain 3D printer equipment.
- Keep engineering databases updated and organized.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with 3D design software, specifically Creo or Solidworks.
- Strong analytical and design skills.

- Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
- Term: Fall 2026 (8 months).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $25.50 to $35.00 per hour.
