About the role#
This is an 8-12 month internship opportunity for students pursuing degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics. The role is based on-site in Ottawa, Ontario, with terms available for Summer 2026 and Summer 2027. You will work directly with the systems design architecture team to support hardware performance testing and software validation for optical modem products.
What you'll do#
- Assist with Design Verification Testing (DVT) focusing on optical performance, power consumption, and electrical performance.
- Collect, analyze, and present data gathered during DVT procedures.
- Automate software test cases and perform hands-on feature testing on optical modules using evaluation boards and GUIs.
- Identify technical issues and coordinate with hardware and software design teams to drive resolutions.
- Provide design feedback to support continuous improvements for optical modules.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree or diploma program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Programming, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of Python.
- Proficiency with the MS Office suite, specifically the ability to manage, sort, filter, and graph large data sets in Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and under direction.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Coding experience with MATLAB or Java scripting.
- Familiarity with lab test equipment.

- Compensation: This is a paid position with an hourly range of $25.00 - $34.00, including access to the Employee Assistance Program, company-paid holidays, sick leave, and vacation pay.
