About the role#
The Robotics Integration and Development Co-op joins the Robotics Center of Excellence. This group focuses on research and the development of autonomous operations. You will work on platform-level ownership, system architecture, and deployment workflows. The team emphasizes rapid prototyping and moving ideas from research to the factory floor. You will gain hands-on experience with Clearpath research platforms and OTTO Motors industrial AMRs, specifically integrating mobile manipulators for industrial tasks.
What you'll do#
- Develop and integrate software across multiple robotics subsystems to improve hardware functionality.
- Build, deploy, and maintain robotics applications using containerization technologies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues by collecting system data and analyzing behavior across the full robotics stack.
- Apply modern robotics research, including motion planning and perception, to real-world systems.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor or advanced degree program in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, and Linux-based environments.
- Experience with ROS/ROS2, containerization tools like Docker or Kubernetes, and software-hardware interfacing.
- Familiarity with robotic hardware, embedded systems, and software deployment workflows.
- Previous internship or co-op experience in a related field is preferred.
- Involvement in robotics or technology clubs and projects.

- Location: Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
- Term: Winter 2027, starting in January 2027.
- Modality: Hybrid.
- Employment: Full-time, paid position with an hourly rate between $20 and $32 CAD.
- Note: Relocation assistance is not provided. Candidates must be able to relocate to the Waterloo area if they live more than 50 miles away.
