About the role#
The Brokerage Risk team uses data, automation, and AI to improve operational resilience and risk transparency. As an intern, you will work in a technical environment to build and test risk management tools, analyze brokerage data, and automate processes that protect the firm and its customers. You will collaborate with engineers, product teams, and risk managers to design solutions that detect and visualize risk.
What you'll do#
- Build SQL and Python scripts to automate control processes like reconciliations, risk alerts, and supervisory checks.
- Partner with data engineers to develop dashboards that track real-time risk metrics, exposures, and performance trends.
- Conduct data-driven investigations into brokerage risks, including trading anomalies and control failures, and propose solutions.
- Assist with GenAI-enabled projects to improve document classification, access management, and test account oversight.
- Present findings and prototypes to senior leaders to demonstrate how technology improves risk management scalability.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Finance, or Engineering (Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial).
- Expected graduation date of Winter 2027 or Summer 2028.
- Foundational experience using SQL and Python.
- Exposure to automation, machine learning, and AI.
- Ability to communicate complex data insights to non-technical audiences.
- Analytical, detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accountability and ethical judgment.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based in Chicago, IL.
- This position follows a hybrid work model with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.
