About the role#
This intern position at Rion Equipment supports the design and development of new machinery. You will work to improve production output while reducing process defects and waste. The role involves collaborating with engineering and project management teams to meet project timelines and budget requirements.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design and development of new machines.
- Perform engineering calculations to verify equipment suitability.
- Create testing methods and record results.
- Conduct quality inspections and red-line engineering drawings.
- Determine production costs by gathering pricing from suppliers and working with sales and marketing teams.
- Supervise equipment production to ensure design requirements are clear.
- Review mechanical designs for safety and reliability.
- Complete technical documentation, system mechanical drawings, and as-built assembly drawings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor degree program for Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering, with at least 2 years of coursework completed.
- Mechanical design ability, including working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic controls, motors, and feedback components.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and 2D or 3D design software like SolidWorks or Inventor.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and heavy equipment operation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical topics.
- Ability to read and produce mechanical drawings.
- Competence in Microsoft Office, time management, and project management.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience designing machine hydraulics and electrical systems is preferred.
