About the role#
This is an 8-month internship running from January to August 2027 at the Diavik Diamond Mine in the Northwest Territories. You will join the project delivery team as a Construction Field Technician, working under the guidance of a Project Engineer or Advisor. This is a full-time, on-site role requiring a 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off rotation, including 12-hour shifts on weekends and holidays.
What you'll do#
- Provide survey and quality control support for progressive reclamation work.
- Conduct quantity surveys, site layout, and field supervision for large-scale earthworks.
- Perform materials testing and quality control for earthworks and crush production stockpiling.
- Coordinate with Construction, Engineering, and Operations teams to track daily activities against design specifications.
- Use PITRAM software to monitor active equipment, including tracking stoppages and delays.
- Participate in site safety protocols and quality control processes.
What you'll need#
- Current registration in an accredited engineering COOP program.
- At least 2 years of completed coursework in Civil, Geotechnical, Geological, Environmental, or Mining Engineering.
- A commitment to your own safety and the safety of your team.
- Strong organizational, participative, and communication skills.
- High level of self-motivation.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Must be returning to school following the work term.
- Must have the legal right to work in Canada.
Location & details#
- Site: Diavik Diamond Mine, Northwest Territories, Canada.
- Logistics: Fly-in fly-out rotation. All meals and accommodations are provided in camp.
- Travel: Flights are provided to the site from designated pick-up locations.
