About the role#
This paid internship offers students the chance to gain practical experience in a manufacturing environment. You will work alongside IT professionals to support systems, hardware, and infrastructure. This role provides exposure to end-user support, cybersecurity, and enterprise applications while you build your technical and problem-solving skills.
What you'll do#
- Provide first-level technical support for employees at the York facility.
- Serve as the initial contact for IT support requests to triage and resolve issues.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, printers, mobile devices, and network connectivity.
- Set up, deploy, and maintain computers and technology equipment.
- Manage user accounts, password resets, and access permissions.
- Maintain IT asset inventories and software licensing records.
- Participate in hardware upgrades and technology refresh initiatives.
- Write and update technical documentation, user guides, and standard operating procedures.
- Support projects involving infrastructure, systems, and business applications.
- Test and implement new technologies while identifying ways to improve user experience.
- Follow cybersecurity and data protection practices to support compliance.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, networking, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with Windows operating systems and Microsoft technologies is preferred.
- Familiarity with IT ticketing systems or technical support environments is a plus.
- Exposure to networking, cybersecurity, or system administration is beneficial.
- Previous experience through internships, academic projects, or campus organizations is preferred.
