About the role#
As a Safety Intern at our York manufacturing facility, you will gain hands-on experience working with safety professionals. You will contribute to projects that impact employee safety, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing operations. This paid internship provides exposure to OSHA compliance, incident investigations, safety training, and risk assessments.
What you'll do#
- Assist with workplace inspections, safety observations, and hazard identification.
- Participate in incident investigations by gathering information and tracking corrective actions.
- Enter and maintain HSE metrics, reports, and tracking tools.
- Prepare weekly and monthly safety performance reports and support trending analysis.
- Coordinate safety training sessions and maintain training records, logs, and certifications.
- Create safety-related materials, including presentations and posters for awareness campaigns.
- Support administrative tasks such as maintaining SDS records, audit preparation, and tracking permit documentation.
- Assist with the purchasing and inventory of safety supplies and PPE.
- Partner with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams on safety initiatives.
- Complete an internship project and present recommendations to site leadership at the end of the program.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment.
- An interest in workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Previous manufacturing or safety-related experience is helpful but not required.
