About the role#
RHI Magnesita is hiring engineering students for a Summer 2027 internship. You will work on-site at our plant to support projects that improve safety, quality, and productivity. This role focuses on Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement. You will collaborate with plant leadership, engineers, and production teams to drive operational performance.
What you'll do#
- Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives across plant operations.
- Analyze operational processes to identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
- Participate in waste reduction, 5S, visual management, and standard work initiatives.
- Collect and analyze production data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities.
- Assist with documenting best practices and operating standards.
- Track and report project metrics and key performance indicators.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations for project updates.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, maintenance, and quality teams.
- Promote a strong safety culture by following all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Students entering their Junior or Senior year in Fall 2027 are strongly preferred.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Interest in manufacturing, process optimization, and industrial operations.
- Previous internship, co-op, research, or leadership experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or project management concepts is helpful.
