About the role#
This is a full-time Software Engineering internship with the Mission Engineering and Operational Analysis team. You will work on-site in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, during the Summer and Fall of 2027. This role requires a commitment to work Monday through Friday, and students are expected to take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this mentorship opportunity.
What you'll do#
- Develop modeling and simulation capabilities for Mission Engineering and Operational Analysis projects.
- Create engineering code artifacts and project documentation.
- Demonstrate your progress during team showcase opportunities.
- Contribute your unique perspective and skills to help the team develop new solutions for the Connected Battlespace.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree program in Software Engineering or Computer Science, with at least 60 credit hours completed by the start date.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Experience with C, C++, and Python.
- Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Git, Subversion, Docker, and Doxygen.
- Experience with the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM).
- Understanding of DevSecOps tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of concepts including CONOPS, system tradeoffs, threat definitions, and system-of-system assessments.
- Experience with simulation, integration, and testing.
- Prior internship, co-op, or work experience with RTX is a plus.
