    About the role#

    This is a full-time, paid Project Engineering internship for Summer 2027 based in Winston Salem, North Carolina. You will work on-site to support commercial seating Modifications and Upgrades (MAU) programs. This role requires authorization to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.

    What you'll do#

    • Author Design and Project Engineering portions of bids and proposals for commercial seating programs.
    • Perform design and packaging studies using CAD to ensure fit, form, and function of seating assemblies and layouts.
    • Use AI and optimization tools to improve processes and reduce turnaround times for engineering quotations.
    • Work in a cross-functional team environment to provide input on design solutions.
    • Participate in design reviews and perform studies to validate project proposals.
    • Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for potential programs.
    • Summarize key metrics for engineering quotations, including non-recurring engineering hours and hard costs.

    What you'll need#

    • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in a STEM field, specifically Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
    • Must be actively enrolled through the completion of the internship.
    • Completion of at least 60 credit hours by the start of the internship.
    • Experience with CAD software such as Creo, SolidWorks, NX, Catia, or AutoCAD.
    • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Experience managing projects and working on cross-functional teams.
    • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience is preferred.
