About the role#
This is a Mechanical Engineering internship based in Richardson, Texas, for the Summer 2027 term. You will work with the Collins Aerospace Strategic Defense Solutions group to support the design, development, and testing of electronic equipment and integration kits for military aircraft and transportable platforms. This is a full-time, on-site position. Please note that U.S. citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
What you'll do#
- Apply research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and electromechanical systems.
- Produce models for components, parts, subassemblies, and assemblies.
- Execute tests for systems and components under technical oversight.
- Analyze test results against design specifications and objectives.
- Collaborate with Mechanical, Systems, Electrical, and Manufacturing Engineering staff.
- Communicate project data and findings within a cross-functional team.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Advanced degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM field.
- Active enrollment status through the end of the internship.
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours by the start of the session.
- Experience with Solidworks or similar 3D CAD software.
- Experience with ANSYS or other mechanical analysis software.
