About the role#
This is a summer 2027 internship for a Mechanical Engineering student within the Airborne & Ground Optics Department. You will work under the supervision of a team lead to support the mechanical design process from initial concept through model and drawing completion. This role requires on-site work in McKinney, Texas.
What you'll do#
- Manage the mechanical design process, including model and drawing completion.
- Use company tools such as CREO and PDM for design and documentation support.
- Perform analytical and technical engineering tasks within a program environment.
- Participate in hardware assembly and testing in a lab environment.
- Handle engineering change and drawing release processes.
- Complete training on internal Raytheon procedures.
- Deliver design presentations as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field.
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours by the start of the internship.
- Experience with CAD tools like CREO or equivalent.
- U.S. citizenship is required to access program information.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is desired.
- Experience in mechanisms, opto-mechanical design, or cleanroom environments is preferred.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and understand tolerancing is preferred.
- Experience developing and delivering presentations is preferred.
