About the role#
This is a full-time, on-site Mechanical Engineering Co-op position based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The role runs from January through July or August 2027. You will work alongside mechanical engineers to support the design and development of display panels for commercial and military avionics. This position requires you to be a U.S. Person.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the design, development, and documentation of optical stacks and electronic packaging.
- Perform CAD design and testing tasks.
- Analyze and troubleshoot thermal performance of components.
- Gain experience across all phases of hardware design, including requirements capture, layout, verification, and factory transition.
- Support design engineers with factory, field, and customer-related issues.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree program in Mechanical Engineering.
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours by the start of the session.
- Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Siemens NX, AutoDesk, or Creo.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with ANSYS.
- Ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams.
- Prior internship or work experience at RTX is a plus.
