About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineer Intern, you will support the Hardware Engineering Team within the Critical Item Production Readiness department. This role focuses on ensuring products are designed with the entire production lifecycle in mind, including manufacturability, assembly, and cost management. You will work on hardware for Naval Power and Land and Air Defense Systems.
What you'll do#
- Manage the flow down, allocation, and derivation of electrical and mechanical hardware requirements.
- Plan verification processes and generate artifacts to ensure hardware meets requirements.
- Identify gaps for existing or non-developed hardware.
- Apply Design to Cost best practices across development programs.
- Coordinate between Systems Engineering, Affordability Engineering, and the Hardware team.
- Use company tools such as PTC Windchill PDM and IBM DOORS.
- Participate in training on internal processes and procedures.
- Collaborate with coworkers and multi-discipline teams.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree program in Mechanical Engineering.
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours by the start of the internship.
- Experience developing and delivering verbal or written presentations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or other presentation tools is preferred.
- Prior engineering project or internship experience is preferred, including previous experience with RTX.
