About the role#
This Investment Banking Summer Analyst position is a full-time, on-site role based in Chicago. You will join the Capital Markets & Advisory team for the Summer 2027 term. This role involves working on business matters of significance, including public and private debt and equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, and financial advisory projects.
What you'll do#
- Build financial models to assess debt and equity financing alternatives.
- Execute valuation methodologies, including comparative company analysis and discounted cash flow analysis.
- Contribute to equity offerings, private placements, and merger and acquisition advisories.
- Research, analyze, and document elements of developing transactions.
- Partner with Senior Bankers to build strategies for client presentations and create original materials.
- Monitor current events in industry groups to provide input on market impacts.
- Manage group databases to support research and analysis.
- Handle additional responsibilities as assigned, requiring independent judgment and discretion.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate degree program, ideally with a focus on Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
- Knowledge of investment banking, securities industry practices, tax, accounting, and financial markets.
- Strong analytical skills to assess and explain market events.
- Ability to identify trends and linkages while balancing attention to detail with a big-picture view.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in using technology to produce reports and presentations.
- Commitment to ethical principles and the ability to think independently.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.
