About the role#
Protective Life is seeking a summer intern to join the Corporate Communications team. This is an 8-week program designed for students to gain hands-on experience by supporting storytelling, content creation, and employee engagement. You will translate complex topics into clear messaging while working alongside cross-functional teams and business leaders to address real business problems.
What you'll do#
- Draft and edit internal communications content for the company intranet.
- Write and produce weekly news emails for employees.
- Support copy editing and proofreading across various communications.
- Create visual content using Canva and PowerPoint for internal campaigns.
- Conduct research to support storytelling and communications planning.
- Maintain and update intranet content.
- Collaborate with team members on initiatives and special projects.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program as of May 31, 2027.
- Preference for rising Junior or Senior undergraduate students.
- Pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, or Business Administration.
- Strong writing and editing skills with a focus on detail and tone.
- Ability to research and synthesize information efficiently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a collaborative mindset.
- Comfort taking initiative and ownership of tasks.

- Location: Birmingham, Alabama (On-site at the corporate office).
- Term: Summer 2027 (May 31, 2027 to July 30, 2027).
- Status: Paid, full-time internship.
