About the role#
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance is seeking a motivated intern to join the Commercial Property team in New York for the summer of 2027. This paid, full-time position offers a 12-week introduction to commercial underwriting. You will gain hands-on experience in risk assessment, policy structuring, and portfolio management while working alongside experienced professionals.
What you'll do#
- Evaluate and underwrite commercial property risks.
- Gain exposure to the insurance lifecycle and the broader commercial property market.
- Collaborate with underwriters and cross-functional teams on daily operations.

What you'll need#
- Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field like Risk Management or Actuarial Science.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in math, including comfort with statistics, probability, and financial principles.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn.
