About the role#
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance is seeking a Technology Intern for our Stevens Point office. This is a 12-week paid, full-time internship during the summer of 2027. You will join our software engineering team to gain hands-on experience with technology processes and the insurance lifecycle. You will work on real projects while receiving guidance from experienced engineers.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to project and operational work as a member of the software engineering team.
- Develop, test, troubleshoot, and document software solutions.
- Take ownership of specific development tasks from start to finish.
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members in daily meetings and development processes.
- Investigate technical issues and find solutions using available resources.
- Manage your assigned work while maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Communicate your progress and any challenges to the team.
What you'll need#
- Current college student in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, or prior relevant experience in IT.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Prior experience in a customer service role, such as a past job or volunteer work.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and your own time.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Permanent work authorization in the United States.
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools is a plus.

- Location: Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $22 to $25 per hour, based on skills and experience.
