About the role#
This is a 12-week paid internship based in our San Ramon office. As a Technology Intern, you will join our software engineering team to gain hands-on experience with enterprise software development. You will work alongside engineers and scientists on the CAT E&A team to support our insurance operations and catastrophe modeling projects.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to project and operational work as an active member of the software engineering team.
- Develop, test, troubleshoot, and document software solutions with guidance from experienced engineers.
- Take ownership of assigned development tasks and see them through to completion.
- Collaborate with domain experts to enhance our use of available data.
- Participate in team meetings, discussions, and standard development processes.
- Investigate technical issues and develop solutions using available tools.
- Manage your assigned work and priorities with a focus on accuracy and quality.
- Communicate your progress, questions, and challenges to the team.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related STEM field.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, Git, and Docker.
- Familiarity with a major cloud provider such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience with databases, data pipelines, and data processing.
- Knowledge of machine learning and experience working with geospatial data.
- Interest in applying AI-assisted development tools within the software lifecycle.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and time effectively.
- Permanent work authorization in the United States. We do not provide sponsorship.
