About the role#
POLITICO is hiring a reporting intern for the Winter 2027 term in Tallahassee, Florida. This is a full-time, paid position where you will work as a reporter, covering the state legislative session and the governor. You will work independently and with a team on breaking news, enterprise stories, and newsletters. This role offers a behind-the-scenes view of how news is made, supported by biweekly trainings and direct feedback.
What you'll do#
- Cover legislation, lawmakers, the governor, and state agencies.
- Research, report, write, and aggregate content for in-state and national audiences.
- Contribute to story creation and production.
- Report in the field as needed.
What you'll need#
- A passion for politics and policy.
- A desire to learn about Florida government.
- Strong foundational reporting and writing skills.
- Excellent news judgment.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadlines.
- An entrepreneurial mindset.
- Proven experience in a newsroom, with at least one professional internship or job preferred.
- Pursuing or holding a degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or English.

- Location: Tallahassee, Florida.
- Term: January through May 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
