About the role#
We are looking for a student or recent graduate to join our team for a Summer 2027 internship. This role provides hands-on experience in editorial production, content distribution, and multimedia storytelling. You will work alongside producers and editors to support daily operations and learn how a newsroom creates and distributes content across various platforms.
What you'll do#
- Support daily audio and video production workflows across the team.
- Research topics, individuals, and current events to assist the editorial process.
- Source archival footage, soundbites, and relevant assets.
- Assist with clipping interviews and live events.
- Help with recording sessions, live transcripts, and real-time production support.
- Maintain organized production files, metadata, and documentation.
- Manage content uploads across our CMS, YouTube, podcast channels, and social platforms.
- Collect and analyze performance metrics.
- Work independently and with the team on shooting, clipping, editing, and booking.
- Produce in the field as needed.
What you'll need#
- A strong passion for journalism, Washington, politics, and policy.
- Demonstrated interest in multimedia production, editing, podcasting, or platform innovation.
- Excellent news judgement and an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadlines.
- Previous experience in a newsroom is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Arlington, Virginia (HQ).
- Term: Summer 2027 (June to August).
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Modality: Hybrid.
- Compensation: $23 per hour.
