About the role#
POLITICO is looking for a Reporting Intern for the Winter 2027 term in Trenton, New Jersey. This is a full-time, paid position. You will work in a hybrid capacity, covering state politics, legislation, and the governor. You will have the opportunity to work both independently and with a team on breaking news, enterprise stories, and newsletters.
What you'll do#
- Cover legislation, lawmakers, the governor, state agencies, and New Jersey politics.
- Research, report, write, and aggregate content.
- Assist with story creation, newsletters, and production.
- Report from the field as needed.
What you'll need#
- A demonstrated interest in New Jersey politics and policy.
- Strong foundational reporting and writing skills.
- Excellent news judgment.
- An entrepreneurial mindset.
- The ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadlines.
- Proven experience in a newsroom, with at least one professional news media internship or job preferred.
- Pursuing or holding a degree in Journalism, Political Science, or Communications.
