About the role#
POLITICO is seeking interns for its Summer 2027 program in Arlington, Virginia. This full-time, paid position offers students and recent graduates the chance to work as reporters covering Washington policy and politics. Interns work alongside our teams to cover news, contribute to newsletters, and report from the field.
What you'll do#
- Cover developments in real time, turning around stories on key events and power players.
- Work as a full-time beat reporter on policy teams covering health care, technology, transportation, and education.
- Curate flagship politics newsletters, including research, factchecking, and writing.
- Contribute to the West Wing Playbook daily newsletter.
- Execute quick-turn enterprise reporting.
- Report in the field as needed, including on Capitol Hill.
What you'll need#
- A demonstrated interest in Washington, politics, and policy.
- Strong foundational reporting and writing skills.
- Excellent news judgement.
- The ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadlines.
- An entrepreneurial mindset.
- Proven experience in a newsroom, with at least one professional news media internship or job preferred.

- Location: Arlington, Virginia (HQ).
- Term: Summer 2027 (June-August).
- Work Modality: Hybrid, full-time (40 hours per week).
- Compensation: $23 per hour.
