About the role#
Business Insider is looking for a Tech Production Fellow to support our editorial team in San Francisco. This is a six-month, full-time position for early-career journalists. You will learn how a digital newsroom operates by assisting with the production and packaging of our tech coverage, ranging from breaking news to feature stories.
What you'll do#
- Format and set up stories in our content-management system.
- Verify that headlines, links, images, captions, and metadata are accurate before publication.
- Assist with the production of the VC newsletter, including building editions and managing calendars.
- Maintain editorial lists and other recurring formats.
- Gather assets and check formatting to ensure stories meet our editorial, style, and legal standards.
- Support the daily administrative needs of the tech team.
- Shadow reporters and editors to gain insight into the full publication process.
What you'll need#
- Strong organizational skills and a high attention to detail.
- A genuine interest in technology, business, media, or journalism.
- The ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong written communication and proofreading skills.
- Flexibility and comfort learning new digital tools and systems.
- Majors in Journalism, Communications, or Media Studies are preferred.
Location & details#
- This role is based in San Francisco, California.
- This is a hybrid position requiring you to be in the office three days a week.
- The term is for Fall 2026.
- This is a paid, full-time position (40 hours per week).
