About the role#
As a State and Local Tax (SALT) Intern, you will gain hands-on experience working alongside our professional staff. You will contribute to meaningful projects, helping organizations navigate complex tax landscapes while developing your technical and analytical skills. This role offers exposure to various tax service lines in a collaborative environment.
What you'll do#
- Provide tax consulting services regarding state and local taxes, including income, franchise, sales and use, gross receipts, and personal property taxes.
- Prepare state and local income and franchise tax returns.
- Research complex tax issues and document your findings through technical memorandums.
- Write internal and external tax alerts on current developments and planning techniques.
- Build professional relationships with staff at all levels and our client base.
- Participate in training programs to deepen your knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program with an emphasis in accounting, or a Master's degree program in accounting or tax.
- Completion of the first two entry-level accounting courses and current enrollment in the first intermediate level accounting course.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Current pursuit of an LLM, JD, or CPA license.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills with a focus on detail.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
