About the role#
As a State and Local Tax (SALT) Intern, you will work alongside our professional staff to provide tax consulting services and assist with financial assurance for a variety of organizations. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience, treating interns similarly to entry-level staff to ensure meaningful contributions to client projects.
What you'll do#
- Provide tax consulting services regarding income, franchise, sales and use, gross receipts, and personal property taxes.
- Prepare state and local income and franchise tax returns.
- Research complex tax issues and present conclusions through technical memorandums or verbal communication.
- Draft internal and external tax alerts concerning current developments and planning techniques.
- Build professional relationships with team members at all levels and with our clients.
- Participate in training programs to deepen your knowledge of state, local, and federal tax regulations.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in accounting, or a Master's degree in accounting or tax.
- Completion of the first two entry-level accounting courses and current enrollment in at least the first intermediate level accounting course.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Intent to pursue a LLM, JD, or CPA license.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with a detail-oriented approach.

- Compensation: $33.00 - $36.00 per hour (for CO, IL, and OH locations).
- Note: This is a non-exempt position that may require working more than 40 hours per week and includes the possibility of local, national, or international travel.
