About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience within a plant operations environment. You will work alongside maintenance and operations teams on projects focused on equipment performance, reliability, and continuous improvement. This role offers exposure to preventive maintenance systems, maintenance planning, and downtime reduction while you apply academic knowledge to business challenges.
What you'll do#
- Track and report Repair & Maintenance spending to find cost-saving opportunities.
- Analyze downtime to identify performance trends and capacity improvements.
- Participate in root cause analysis for equipment failures and propose corrective actions.
- Update preventative maintenance schedules in the CMMS and assist with data scrubbing.
- Review predictive maintenance data and plan follow-up actions.
- Collaborate with plant teams on reliability projects to improve equipment uptime.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited 2-4 year college or technical school program.
- A 3.0 GPA or higher.
- A program of study in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Reliability Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with mechanical or electrical systems, reliability tools, or maintenance practices.
Location & details#
- Location: Bridgewater, Virginia.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
- Status: Full-time, paid internship.
- Physical requirements: This is an active role on the plant floor. You will move throughout the facility and may handle equipment. The environment includes varying temperatures from 28 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, wet floors, and noise levels ranging from 50 to 110 decibels. You must wear required protective safety equipment.
