About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in safety practices, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement within a food production environment. You will work with the Safety Team to support initiatives across plant operations and learn how safety protocols protect people, products, and processes. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Rockingham, North Carolina.
What you'll do#
- Assist in conducting safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across departments.
- Support incident investigations and root cause analyses.
- Help develop and deliver safety training materials for associates.
- Participate in ergonomic assessments and hazard identification.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions.
- Present findings and recommendations to site leadership at the end of the internship.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior status.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA or higher.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software.
- Strong analytical, communication, and time management skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently or within a team.
- Preference is given to rising Juniors or Seniors who have completed at least two college-level communication courses.
Location & details#
- Location: Rockingham, North Carolina.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
- Physical requirements include the ability to work in varying temperatures ranging from -40 degrees to 75 degrees, exposure to noise levels up to 110 db, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
